Dig hole two times width of pot. Set top of root ball even with ground level. Combine planting mix and soil. Fill to ground level and tamp. Water to settle soil. Add layer of mulch to retain moisture and discourage weeds. Check often for water until established. Fertilize with rose fertilizer according to application instructions, typically just before and during the bloom season.

Not typically pruned in the first year. Cut on a 45° angle. Cut off one-third of the old canes, always cutting back to just above an outward facing bud. Throughout the growing season, prune out weak, dead or diseased growth and suckers (stems coming from the roots, not the bud union).
