Curtis Friesen

Territory Account Manager, Eastern Canada and US

  curtis@vanbelle.com

Curtis Friesen began his journey with Van Belle Nursery in September of 2004 as he hopped on a plane and spent his first three weeks on the road visiting customers with Bill Van Belle in Eastern Canada. Since then he has enjoyed working with many current customers as well as forming new partnerships throughout Eastern Canada. He has also been influential in developing alliances throughout the Eastern and Southern US, an area which has really expanded over the past five years.

Curtis spends a lot of his time at our Clayburn facility working closely with Diego Martinez and our Young Plants Production Team and can often be found having a final look before the plants head off to our customers or checking the crops putting on roots in the Cravo.

“Getting out and walking each crop to me is very important. I know how much my customers rely on me for accurate feedback and it really helps me sleep well, knowing that our production team has selected strong and consistent liners. Watching our own containers growing, I am able to see immediately how important it is to start with a top grade liner!”

Curtis and his wife Michelle have been blessed with two beautiful girls.

Our Customers Say:

  • Exceptional value. Prior to using Van Belle, I had been buying smaller liners (2.5in) of a lesser quality and paying nearly the same price and often times more.  Even with the long haul back to the Midwest, they have proven to be a value.  In most cases, Van Belle’s  4in is my first choice.

    Paul VanOteghem, Home Nursery

  • The 4in program is a success for us. Our goal is to finish a three gallon container in one growing season. Some of the liners we purchased from you in April have already been sold (huge success); the others are available for sale and should be sold by the end of next spring (success). Anything longer than 12 months causes me concern.

    David Johnson, Johnson Nursery Corp.

  • I find the 4in pots work well in our production scheme due to the savings in freight and the cost of the original liner.  The 4in pot is rooted and heavy  and we can produce it 3 gallon container plant in 6 months on average. It has also allowed us to produce 2 gallon containers effectively and depending on the variety we can finish it off in 3 months.

    Jerry Fulz, Acorn Farms

  • With the high cost of liners it is critical for us to shorten the residency time of our plants at our nursery.  When we can purchase a 4in liner from Van Belle, containerize it into a 3 gallon and sell it within 12 months that allows us to maintain a strong profit margin.

    Mark Sellew, Prides Corner Farms
