Facilities and Purchasing Manager

Reporting to: President
Direct Reports: 2 Permanent and 2-4 Part time Maintenance Staff

Key Areas

  1. Facilities- oversee all construction projects from start to finish, using in-house people as well as arranging and overseeing outside contractors as needed.
  2. Equipment- make sure all equipment is available when it is needed, and is well maintained.
  3. Hardgoods- make and meet the budget for all supplies and hardgoods.
  4. Ensure the timely delivery of all hard goods supplies
  5. Meet with top 5 suppliers on their site at least once each year to work out ways to increase mutual profitability.

Other Duties

  1. Main person for shipping support in spring
  2. Responsible for the up to date inventory of supplies
  3. Maintain a maintenance schedule for all equipment and buildings
  4. Approval and assignment of all hard goods purchase invoices for proper GL Coding

Skills Required

  1. The ability to negotiate with suppliers in a way that preserves long term mutual profitability is critical.
  2. The ability to oversee staff and contractors with varying levels of skills
  3. Have the ability to learn new technologies and systems quickly.

Assets

  1. Understanding of basic electrical systems
  2. Understanding of VFDs,
  3. Understanding of irrigation systems
  4. Understanding of mechanics is helpful
  5. Ability to use a computer is critical
